WATCH: Major Fire Breaks Out In Noida Residential Society After AC Blast

The incident, occurring amid a severe heatwave in the national capital region, caused panic among residents who rushed downstairs as thick smoke billowed from the affected apartment

A significant fire started in an apartment at Lotus Boulevard Society in Sector 100 of Noida due to an explosion in the air conditioning unit. The fire engulfed the entire apartment and quickly spread to adjacent flats in the tall residential complex.

The fire, occurring during a severe heatwave in the national capital region, caused panic among the residents. Those living in neighboring flats hurried downstairs as thick smoke poured out from the affected apartment.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in the incident, and the fire has been put out by fire safety officials, as confirmed by a police spokesperson. Videos on social media depicted heavy smoke emanating from the apartment situated in one of the residential towers of the society.

The news comes a day after Delhi’s Mungeshpur weather station recorded a record-breaking temperature of 52.9 degrees. However, the weather department and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju have stated that the reading will be reviewed, as it may have been influenced by errors or local factors.

Delhi’s primary weather station, the Safdarjung observatory, recorded a maximum temperature of 46.8 degrees Celsius, the highest in 79 years and the second-highest ever. The previous highest temperature was recorded on June 17, 1945, at 46.7 degrees Celsius.
