Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir: In a significant development, a potential disaster was averted on Monday when a Bomb Disposal Squad successfully diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) discovered by joint security forces in the Palhallan area along the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway.

Officials reported that the IED was located by a collaborative team comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Battalion during a routine patrol. The quick identification of the device prompted immediate action, leading to the suspension of traffic and restrictions on civilian movement in the vicinity to ensure public safety.
Upon detection, a Bomb Disposal Squad was promptly dispatched to the scene, where they expertly neutralized the threat without causing any harm to the surrounding area. “The timely recovery of the IED thwarted an untoward incident,” officials stated, emphasizing the importance of swift action in preventing potential tragedy. Following the successful operation, traffic along the highway has been restored.
In light of this incident, authorities have registered a case at the Police Station Pattan and initiated an investigation to uncover any further details related to the IED’s origin and intended use.
