Maharashtra: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall in several districts of Maharashtra. A red alert has been issued for Palghar district, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts for Saturday.

On Friday, Mumbai and its suburbs experienced a heavy spell of rain, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas such as Andheri, Kurla, Ghatkopar, and Chembur, among others.

The intense downpour caused disruptions in traffic movement, resulting in massive snarls across the city and its suburbs.
In the wake of heavy rainfall and landslides, Maharashtra Disaster Management Minister Anil Patil reported that rescue operations were underway in the landslide-hit area of Raigad.
Out of the 178 people affected, 98 individuals have been successfully rescued, but sadly, 21 lives have been lost. Despite facing difficulties due to ongoing rains, the rescue efforts continue, and the situation is being closely monitored by the Chief Minister.
The authorities have made necessary arrangements to accommodate the rescued individuals.
The situation remains challenging, and the state government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities.
