Maharashtra Politics: Ajit Pawar’s faction proposed to keep NCP united; Sharad Pawar stays mute
Maharashtra Politics: After meeting Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar on Sunday, leader from Ajit Pawar faction Praful Patel said they wanted the party to be united.
Patel who expelled by Sharad Pawar over anti-party activities earlier said the Ajit Pawar's faction went to meet Sharad Pawar to seek his blessings.
"We all came here to seek the blessings of respected Sharad Pawar today. We requested Pawar sahib that NCP should stay united. On this, Sharad Pawar did not give any reaction," said Patel, whom Ajit Pawar reinstated as the party's working president.
Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Sunday reached YB Chawan Centre in state capital, Mumbai, to meet NCP founder and his uncle Sharad Pawar.
The meeting was the first interaction of both the leaders after things took a dramatic turn in the NCP with Ajit Pawar taking away his lot of supporting MLAs to join state government.
In today’s meeting, Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal, Aditi Tatkare, Hasan Mashrif were among those who arrived at the centre.
These MLAs had taken oath on July 2 to become ministers in the Shinde-Fadnavis Maharashtra government, which now includes Ajit Pawar’s name after the merger.
