Maharashtra Political Crisis: The Supreme Court of India’s Constitution Bench will issue its decision on the Maharashtra political crisis today. The eligibility and ineligibility of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his 15 MLAs will be decided. This entire episode was heard in front of a five-judge bench. The Supreme Court reserved its decision in March. Uddhav Thackeray filed the plea in the Supreme Court. He urged that the 16 renegade MLAs be disqualified.
The judgement will be delivered by a bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices MR Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli, and PS Narasimha. Please be advised that on Wednesday, Eknath Shinde faction MLA Sanjay Shirsat stated, “I have learned that the Supreme Court will rule on the disqualification of 16 MLAs.” Everything will make sense tomorrow.
At the same time, Aditya Thackeray stated, “I believe the Supreme Court’s decision will be in our favour. We’re not concerned about it. We have complete faith in the judicial system. Only by adhering to the constitution can the country benefit.”

What exactly conspired?
Eknath Shinde revolted against then CM Uddhav Thackeray in June 2022. He was supported by 15 MLAs. They all stayed in Surat first, then in Guwahati. Uddhav Thackeray initiated talks with Eknath Shinde to bring the MLAs back. Shinde, however, declined his offer. Later, the then-Speaker of the Assembly summoned Shinde and his supporters. Eknath didn’t even listen to the party whip.
Uddhav Thackeray later resigned as Chief Minister. Shinde and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis established the government on June 30. Following this, Uddhav Thackeray filed a petition to remove Shinde and his 15 MLAs from office. On this topic, a decision will be made today.
Explain that senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and Devdutt Kamat represented the Uddhav Thackeray side, while senior lawyers NK Kaul, Mahesh Jethmalani, and Maninder Singh supported the Shinde group.
