Maharashtra Political Crisis: The revolt against the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance by veteran Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has led to a political crisis in Maharashtra. Eknath Shinde, who has managed to wean away most of the Shiv Sena MLAs is on the verge of toppling Uddhav Thackeray as the chief minister of Maharashtra.

Before the current Maharashtra political crisis, the Shiv Sena used to have 55 MLAs. However, only 13 Shiv Sena MLAs attended the party meeting convened by Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday. Eknath Shinde has the support of the remaining 42 Shiv Sena MLAs of whom 37 are with him in Guwahati.

In a letter to the Deputy Speaker and the Governor, Eknath Shinde has staked claim as the leader of the Shiv Sena legislature party.

According to reports, Eknath Shinde and his group of MLAs are about to stake claim on the Shiv Sena symbol of bow and arrow.

Eknath Shinde, who has accused Uddhav Thackeray of abandoning the Hindutva ideology, has also staked claim to the legacy of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
