Teacher Accused of Showing Obscene Videos
The accused, a 47-year-old teacher at the Zilla Parishad school in Kazikhed, was detained after the students alleged that he had been showing them obscene videos for the past four months. The complaint was registered on Tuesday at Ural police station following the students’ reports.
Police Response and Arrest
Superintendent of Police Bachchan Singh confirmed the arrest of the teacher, Pramod Manohar Sardar, after the complaint was lodged. The police immediately acted on the accusations and recorded the statements of the six victim girls. The case was filed under sections 74 and 75 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
Crime Uncovered by Child Welfare Committee
The crime was brought to light after the girls contacted the Child Welfare Committee using a toll-free number. Committee members visited the school on Tuesday, spoke with the students, and facilitated the filing of the case.
Call for Strict Action
Asha Mirge, a former member of the State Women’s Commission, has demanded strict action against the teacher, emphasizing the need for stronger measures to protect children from such heinous crimes. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
