At least four workers were killed after a gas leak at a pharmaceutical factory in the Boisar Tarapur MIDC area of Palghar district, Maharashtra on Thursday. Two other workers were reported to be seriously affected after inhaling nitrogen gas that leaked in the plant. The incident occurred in the afternoon between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m at the Medley Pharmaceuticals.
The deceased have been identified as Kalpesh Raut, Bengali Thakur, Dheeraj Prajapati, and Kamlesh Yadav. All of them were declared dead upon their arrival at the hospital, while the injured, Rohan Shinde and Nilesh Hadal are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). They are said to be in critical condition.

The Palghar police confirmed the incident and told ANI about the case registered in the matter. The statement of police read as: “In the Boisar police station limits of Palghar district, four persons died after suspected suffocation in a pharma factory, Medley Pharma. Six people were found severely affected by the suspected nitrogen leak. They were rushed to the nearest hospital, where four people were declared dead and two are under treatment in the ICU. The process of registering a case has begun by taking statements of the witnesses.”
