In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old Dalit minor was allegedly forcibly married off and raped in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.
According to PTI, the police have registered a case against five people, including the groom and his family members from Ahilyanagar. Police said the victim was married off in September by her grandfather, and she was repeatedly raped.
She also stated in her complaint that her in-laws were also mentally harassed.
“We have registered a case against five individuals, including a family member, for the forced marriage, trafficking, and repeated sexual assault of a minor girl. The case involves multiple jurisdictions, and we are coordinating the investigation to ensure immediate action is taken against all the accused involved in this serious crime,” PTI quoted the officer as saying.
The case was registered under relevant sections of BNS, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the officer said.
Gujarat: Buses collide near Pardi bypass, 2 dead, several injured
In a separate incident, An accident between two buses near Pardi bypass claimed the lives of two women and injured several others early morning on Friday.
The injured individuals are admitted to Savar Civil Hospital for medical treatment and relief.
Two buses collided near Pardi bypass on Friday at 4:20 am, resulting in injuries to over 10 passengers. Two women died on the spot, while five were critically injured and were admitted to Savar Civil Hospital in Godhra.
