MVA restricted to 44

The poll results once again came as a major setback for the Congress party, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar), which secured 28, 9, and 7 seats, respectively. The results indicate that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance failed to gauge the people’s mood on local body issues, as voters showed their trust in the ruling alliance. The MVA was restricted to just 44 seats.

Mahayuti dominates Pune

In Pune district, the Mahayuti alliance performed remarkably well, winning all 17 Presidents’ posts, while the MVA failed to open its account. The local alliance also secured 28 representatives in the elections. Five independent candidates also registered victories in the polls.

CM expressed gratitude

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked the people of the state for their massive support to the BJP.

Commenting on the local body election results, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “First of all, I thank the people of Maharashtra. The people of the state have given massive support to the BJP and the Mahayuti. I had already predicted that out of all the municipal council chairpersons elected, 75 percent would be from the Mahayuti, and the people have delivered exactly that verdict. It has also become clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party is the number one party. So far, around 129 municipal council chairpersons have been elected from the BJP. Together, all three alliance parties account for 75 percent of the city council chairpersons. In terms of corporators, the BJP has created a record—3,300 corporators have been elected. This shows the massive public support we have received.”
