In a recent statement, the Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating the voter list in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Leveling allegations against the BJP, he said, “We held a joint press meet the other day in Mumbai, in which we leveled these allegations. It is the truth. The BJP is strangling the democratic system, fearing a defeat. We have provided evidence to the Election Commission.” Patole suggested the EC to be on alert and avoid becoming servitors to the Central Government.

Ahead of the upcoming CEC meeting for the Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024, he said that the first list will be declared tomorrow. He stated, “There are more differences in Mahayuti than the MVA. All the issues on 30 to 40 seats will be resolved. All three of us are planning to hold a press conference tomorrow. So, we will be traveling to Mumbai tonight to speak with the leaders of our allies.”

Congress Eyes Major Share In MVA’s Seat Deal
Congress is eyeing a lion’s share in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, after a significant loss in the Haryana Assembly Elections.
According to the media reports, the Congress wishes to get 100 to 115 seats out of 260 seats, for which the opposition coalition of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), is close to striking a seat-sharing deal. The deal came after a series of closed-door parleys was held among the top leaders of the alliance partners.
ECI Announces Election Dates
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the election dates for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections. Maharashtra’s election will be held in a single phase on November 20, and the vote counting will be done on November 23.
