New Delhi: After renaming Maharashtra’s Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad as Dharashiv, the Eknath Shinde government on Wednesday announced to rename Ahmednagar to ‘Ahilya Devi Nagar’.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced to change the name of Ahmednagar to ‘Ahilya Devi Nagar’ on the occasion of Ahilyabai Holkar’s birth anniversary. CM Shinde in front of Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, in Chaundi in Jamkhed made the announcement.
They both were there to attend the birth anniversary program of Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar.
According to information, on the occasion of the 298th birth anniversary of Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar, various programs were organized at Chaundi in Jamkhed taluka today. Apart from them, Guardian Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, MP Sadashiv Lokhande, MP Dr Sujay Vikhe Patil, MLA Ram Shinde, MLA Gopichand Padalkar, senior leaders Anna Dange, Ramesh Shendge were also present on the occasion.
Giving the name of Ahilya Devi will increase the prestige of the district
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shinde said that the government has decided to name Ahmednagar district after Ahilyabai Holkar. Our government is fortunate to have taken this decision. Ahilyabai’s work is as big as the Himalayas. Giving his name will increase the prestige of this district.
