Jadhav reportedly had invested an amount of Rs 11.5 lakh as FD in the cooperative society in 2020. The deceased farmer was a resident of Khalegaon in Gevrai tehsil. Based on the complaint filed by his wife, Suresh had been requesting the officials to return his money for the past two years. The couple needed money to fund their daughter’s and son’s educational expenses. It has been learnt that he had previously threatened to commit suicide.

His wife alleged that about six months ago, her husband went to the branch office of the society with a bottle of poison. He threatened to consume it if the money was not returned. Later, the former chairman returned Rs 2.5 lakh, while assuring that the remaining money would be paid within 2 months. However, the promise was not kept. On Tuesday, Suresh went there with his wife and two children, following which they were expelled from the office without the money.
