Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: The state of dreamers, Maharashtra has shown a very curious political show today. The counting is on the verge of getting closed, now the question is- Who will become the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra?
According to political analysts, the compromising past of the Mahayuti alliance will come into play again. In the past, to bring peace and break the Shiv Sena party, Mahayuti gave the former CM Eknath Shinde the position of Chief Minister. Now that this election has brought a majority of seats to the BJP, it will be BJP’s call not to keep Devendra Fadnavis in a compromising position and might give him a clear path to the CM’s chair. BJP can now sideline the former CM Eknath Shinde and lead the state.
Maharashtra Assemble Election 2024-
The election results are almost clear, with the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance securing a massive one-sided win over the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition.
Speaking to reporters on counting day, Devendra Fadnavis, a two-time Chief Minister (with his second term lasting only a few days), offered some clarity on the issue. He confirmed that a decision had already been made, and that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had directed alliance leaders to select the Chief Minister after consulting all key stakeholders.
“There will be no dispute about who will be the Chief Minister… it was decided from day one that, after the election, the leaders of the three parties will sit together and decide this,” he stressed.
“The decision will be acceptable to everyone, there is no dispute on this,” he said, aware, no doubt, that supporters of chief ministerial hopefuls have already begun jockeying for their favourites.

Reacting to the resounding victory of the NDA and the question of who will be the next Chief Minister of the state, Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde said, “Let the final results come in… Then, in the same way as we fought elections together, all three parties will sit together and take a decision.”
Who Will Be Next Maharashtra CM?
The ruling Mahayuti alliance consists of the BJP, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
DY CM Fadnavis’ response came amid reports of a massive victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti. During this time, several posters appeared in Washim city, Fadnavis’ hometown, depicting him as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

It is clear from the picture that the fight is among two greta leaders pf Mahayuti party, Mr Fadnavis and Mr Shinde. Maharasra is going to witnes the best ever political show afte the assmbly election counting. Although BKP is set to rule the state, without the support of Eknath Shinde, they will fall short of 145 seats in claiming majority. Eknath Shinde is aware of this fact, and that it signals a replay of 2019.
On Friday, just befor the counting, Shiv Sena MLA and party spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat stated that the assembly elections were contested with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as the face. “Voters have shown their preference for Shinde through their votes. I believe it is Shinde’s right to be the next CM, and we are confident that he will assume the role,” Shirsat said.
The BJP is a big player, it could deviate from the plan and choose someone else as Chief Minister, a tactic it employed last year in Madhya Pradesh when it replaced veteran leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan, despite his leadership in securing a major victory, with the then-unknown Mohan Yadav.
