After Congress lost the Maharashtra Assembly 2024, its state chief Nana Patole alleged rigging. He said, “There has been a rig in the elections… All of our leaders were in the elections field. Our party workers were also there with all their power. Everyone was hopeful that the election results would be in the favour of Maha Vikas Aghadi. For eg, our candidate for Nanded Lok Sabha bye-election won but all our Vidhan Sabha candidates lost.
Nana Patole: I Have Not Resigned
Patole dismissed the claims that he resigned from the post. “I am going to meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, I have not given my resignation,” Patole said, hours after multiple reports surfaced claiming of his resignation.

How can there be so much of a difference?… The people on social media are also saying that their votes have not formed this government. This is our biggest concern. That is why I came to meet our National President Mallikarjun Kharge… We are also worried because we are getting phone calls from all over the state. People are saying that this is wrong and it is not good for a democracy…” he said as quoted by ANI.
Following the crushing defeat of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections, Nana Patole reportedly offered to resign as the state president of the Congress, taking moral responsibility for the party’s poor performance.
The BJP-led Mahayuti, which includes Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s NCP, triumphed in the elections, securing 230 out of 288 assembly seats. In contrast, the MVA coalition collapsed, winning just 46 seats.
In the Mahayuti alliance, the BJP contested 149 assembly seats, Shiv Sena fielded candidates in 81, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP competed in 59 constituencies. In the opposing MVA coalition, Congress won in 16 seats out of 101, Shiv Sena (UBT) ran in 95, and NCP (SP) fought on 86 seats. Additionally, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) contested 237 seats, while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) fielded candidates in 17 constituencies.
