Uttar Pradesh: In a bid to enhance the experience of devotees and visitors in Prayagraj, railways have launched an initiative to create a new attraction point ahead of the Maha Kumbh 2025. A unique rail coach restaurant has been set up near platform no. on the Civil Lines side of Prayagraj junction.
According to Rishab Yadav, the fully operational vegetarian restaurant is built inside an unused railway coach for the convenience of passengers and the general public.

Speaking to ANI, Yadav said, “The railways had recently launched an initiative to create a new point of attraction by bringing restaurants in the old rail coach. Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025, we built this pure veg restaurant which is hygienic and clean. A lot of people visit it. This place has become a selfie point for them.”
One of the customers Muskan praised the cosy ambience, hygienic food and cleanliness maintained at the restaurant. Another customer appreciated the restaurant and the unique initiative, saying, “While eating here, we feel we are sitting on a train. There were no restaurants nearby. It is great that they have built it. We can come here with our family.”
Meanwhile, Prayagraj is buzzing with excitement as the world’s largest religious gathering approaches. Security measures have been ramped up in the city ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela.
An order has been issued regarding the creation of circular security around Prayagraj. This includes all the 7 routes connecting the district and those falling on these routes & border regions, Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said.
More than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed across 102 checkpoints in Prayagraj – 71 inspectors, 234 sub-inspectors, and 645 constables. Additionally, more than 45 crore devotees are expected to gather at the Sangam to take a dip in the holy water. The Maha Kumbh starts on January 13 and concludes on February 26, 2025.
