The Uttar Pradesh government has put the entire Prayagraj division’s medical infrastructure on high alert to ensure the safety of millions of devotees ahead of Basant Panchami Amrit Snan.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all doctors in Mahakumbh Nagar and the division to remain vigilant in light of recent events, including the January 29 stampede at Sangam.

The government has intensified its medical preparedness, deploying over 1,200 medical personnel to the fairgrounds. These personnel will remain stationed until February 6, with a backup plan in place for emergencies. A special four-member medical team has also inspected all hospitals within the fairground to ensure adequate medical supplies and equipment are available.
Medical facilities are equipped with 30 CT scan machines, MRI, ultrasound facilities, and 24-hour emergency services. Dr. Gaurav Dubey, the nodal officer for medical services, highlighted the importance of ambulance services for quick patient transfers to SRN and Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospitals.
The government has also emphasized that no medical staff should leave their posts until February 5. Additionally, regular inspections of sector hospitals are ongoing to ensure proper functioning. The infrastructure includes a 100-bed central hospital, two 25-bed sub-central hospitals, eight 20-bed sector hospitals, and ten first aid posts.
