Maha Kumbh 2025: The Maha Kumbh Mela saw over 1.6 crore devotees on the first day of the religious event. The biggest congregation of humanity continues to draw a diverse array of individuals from Naga Sadhus to spiritual leaders from all over the world. However, this grand event also witnessed a unique personality, an ‘IITian Baba’ who caught the attention of the pilgrims at the Kumbh.
Abhay Singh also known as Masani Gorakh arrived the Kumbh Mela on Monday on the occasion of ‘Paush Purnima’. His academic career was revealed during an interview with News 18. The young man was once a former IIT student. He had studied aerospace engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) from Bombay before embarking on a spiritual path.
Who Is IIT Baba?
Abhay Singh Who hails from Haryana dedicated four years of his life pursuing IIT. His journey from the scientific world to becoming a monk resonates with many. He chose the religious path to explore the realms of spirituality and understand himself.
IIT Baba, also known as Raghav and Jagdish switched his career later from IIT to Arts. He possess a Masters degree in Design and has worked in photography as well. He even taught Physics to students and enrolled in philosophy courses to understand the purpose of life. However, after getting failure in different careers, he went home to focus on ‘basic things’.
On being asked how he reached this stage, the IIT Baba said, “This stage is the best stage.” His story of self-discovery made him a viral sensation on social media with many praising him for his in-depth knowledge.
