As the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025 approaches, significant measures are being put in place to ensure the safety and smooth management of the event. Scheduled to begin on January 13, this year’s Kumbh Mela is expected to attract around 40 crore pilgrims over its 45-day duration. To handle this massive influx, authorities are leveraging advanced technology, particularly AI surveillance and traffic management systems.
Advanced Security Measures
The security plan includes a seven-tier system featuring 2,751 CCTV cameras, with 328 equipped with AI technology for real-time monitoring. These cameras will keep a close watch on key areas such as the Sangam and the tent city, ensuring that any suspicious activity is quickly identified and addressed. Additionally, drones will provide aerial surveillance, while underwater drones will monitor activities beneath the water’s surface, enhancing safety near the rivers.
Integrated Command Center
An Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) has been established to oversee all operations during the Kumbh Mela. This center will utilize AI and data analytics to manage crowd movements effectively and respond promptly to any emergencies. The ICCC will also integrate information from various sources to improve coordination among different agencies involved in security and safety.
Mobile App For Pilgrims
To assist visitors, a dedicated Maha Kumbh Police App has been launched. This app provides essential information about the event, including routes, key landmarks, and contact details for police assistance. It is designed to facilitate quick responses during emergencies and enhance overall crowd management.
Focus On Cybersecurity
With such a large gathering expected, cybersecurity is also a priority. A cyber police station has been set up to combat online threats, ensuring that pilgrims are protected from potential scams or cyber fraud during their visit.
These technological advancements at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025 aim to blend traditional spiritual practices with modern safety measures, making it one of the most secure and well-managed events in history. As the date approaches, preparations continue to ensure that all pilgrims can participate safely in this significant cultural gathering.
