At the Kumbh Mela, free SIM cards are being provided to pilgrims from various states. If anyone loses or damages their SIM card, they can get a replacement without needing to return home. BSNL has arranged to supply SIM cards from all states to the Mela area.

“This service is completely free, allowing pilgrims to stay connected with their families and friends easily. BSNL has set up a camp office at Lal Road Sector-2, where all communication services are managed,” stated the Ministry.

There has been a noticeable increase in demand for services like fiber connections, leased lines, and mobile recharges in the Kumbh area. To enhance convenience for everyone, SIM cards from different states are available, benefiting both pilgrims and security personnel present at the event.

To ensure reliable communication during Maha Kumbh 2025, BSNL has activated 90 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in the Mela area. This includes 30 BTS operating on the 700 MHz 4G band, another 30 on the 2100 MHz band, and 30 that support 2G.

BSNL is also providing additional services such as internet leased lines, Wi-Fi hotspots, high-speed internet (fiber-to-the-home), webcasting, SD-WAN, bulk SMS services, M2M SIMs, and satellite phone services in the Mela area.

“Through this initiative, BSNL is ensuring seamless communication for millions of pilgrims, administrative officers, security forces, and volunteer organizations, helping in the smooth operation of the event,” said the ministry.
