Zomato-owned Blinkit has recently launched a temporary store at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, aiming to cater to the needs of millions of pilgrims and tourists attending this grand religious event. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which occurs every 12 years, began on January 13, 2025, and will continue until February 26, attracting around 43 crore visitors from across the globe.
The Blinkit store spans 100 square feet and is strategically located to serve key areas within the Mela, including Arail Tent City, Dome City, and ITDC Luxury Camp. According to Blinkit’s CEO Albinder Dhindsa, the store will provide a wide range of essential items tailored to the needs of attendees. This includes religious items for rituals, fresh produce like fruits and vegetables, dairy products such as milk and curd, as well as practical items like chargers, power banks, towels, and blankets.

The initiative is part of Blinkit’s broader strategy to enhance its quick commerce services amid growing competition in the sector. By setting up this temporary store, Blinkit ensures that visitors have easy access to necessary supplies without having to venture far from their accommodations. This is especially crucial given the vast scale of the Kumbh Mela, where managing logistics can be challenging due to the sheer number of participants.
In addition to serving basic needs, Blinkit has also stocked special items like Triveni Sangam Jal bottles—sacred water used in various rituals—highlighting its commitment to meeting the unique demands of this significant cultural event. The convenience offered by Blinkit’s quick delivery service is expected to greatly enhance the experience for pilgrims and tourists alike during this spiritual gathering
