A 21-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh orchestrated a fake kidnapping scheme, demanding Rs 30 lakh from her parents with the intention of using the money to escape to a foreign country. The woman, identified as Kavya, had traveled to Rajasthan’s Kota for her studies. However, she has yet to be located.

Kavya, accompanied by her mother, initially went to a hostel in Kota, where she was supposed to attend coaching classes. However, she spent only three days at the hostel before leaving for Indore with a friend who shared her desire to travel abroad. The police, as reported, are still searching for Kavya.

The police further revealed that the woman had been actively sending pictures and messages to deceive her parents, making them believe that she was still present in Rajasthan’s coaching hub. This elaborate ruse added to the complexity of the situation and misled her parents about her actual whereabouts.

On March 18, Raghuveer Dhakad, the woman’s father, filed a report with the Kota Police, claiming that his daughter had been kidnapped. He informed the police that the purported kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh from him and even sent him pictures of his daughter with her hands and feet bound.

Following the report, the police launched an investigation. On Tuesday evening, they were able to trace Kavya to Indore, unraveling the deception and shedding light on the true nature of the situation.

Further details emerged regarding the woman’s actions. After her mother’s departure, she stayed in the Kota hostel for only three days before relocating to Indore, where she has resided ever since with two male friends.

To conceal her whereabouts from her parents, the woman employed deceptive tactics. She sent them messages about class tests and attendance, posing as if she were still actively participating in classes at the coaching institute.

One of the woman’s friends, who is assisting with the investigation, disclosed that Kavya and another friend had aspirations to flee abroad but lacked the necessary funds. Consequently, they orchestrated the abduction hoax as a means to extort ransom money.

The police further revealed that the woman had arranged for her abduction pictures to be taken in a common friend’s room. Additionally, all three individuals involved—Kavya and her two male friends—had switched off their mobile phones.

In light of these developments, the Kota Police have issued an appeal to the woman and her friend to come forward and report to a nearby police station. This call for cooperation aims to facilitate further investigation and resolution of the situation.
