A man has been apprehended for the alleged act of pushing his wife into a well and recording a video that he subsequently sent to her parents, all while demanding dowry, in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district, said the police on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Usha Keer, originally from Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan, had been married to Rakesh Keer for approximately three years. Throughout their marriage, Rakesh and his parents had persistently subjected her to dowry-related harassment and reportedly physically abused her, as detailed by Police Sub-Inspector Aslam Khan.
The harrowing incident occurred on August 21 in Keeron village, situated within the jurisdiction of the Jawad police station, approximately 12 kilometers from Neemuch. According to the official account, on that day, around 2 pm, Rakesh allegedly forced Usha into a well. Remarkably, she clung to a rope inside the well for two grueling hours while Rakesh filmed her plight and forwarded the video to her in-laws, demanding dowry.
