Madhya Pradesh: A street hawker has been arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl after luring her to his home in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, according to police officials.

The incident occurred in Gohad town on Saturday night, August 10, and was reported to the authorities the next day, said Superintendent of Police Asit Yadav.

According to the complaint, the hawker enticed the girl with cotton candy and took her to his home, where he allegedly raped her. After the assault, the man gave the child Rs 20.

When the girl’s mother noticed the money, she questioned her daughter, who then revealed the ordeal. The mother promptly filed a complaint with the police.

The accused has since been arrested and charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, confirmed Yadav.
