Four women died while five others sustained injuries after three houses collapsed in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Monday night, said officials on Tuesday. In the primary investigation, it came to light that the illegal firecrackers were stored in the house that led to the incident.
Police said the deceased have been identified as Vaijanti Kushwaha, her daughter Vimla Kushwaha, Vidya Rathore, and Pooja Rathore, a resident of Rathore Colony in Tanch Road, Morena. Police investigation revealed that the explosion reportedly took place at a house of Munsi Rathore, causing damages to the adjacent houses.
As police received information on the emergency helpline number, the police team rushed to the spot and started rescue work. The bodies were recovered from inside the debris, and five injured were rescued.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they all are undergoing treatment. A search operation is underway to check if there is anyone stuck in debris. JCBs were called to clear the debris, said police.
A senior police officer said, “It was suspected that illegal firecrackers were stored in a house that caused a massive blast.” However, an investigation is underway to find the exact reason behind the incident.”

Officials said that a forensic team is investigating the cause. The injured were initially taken to a hospital in Morena but later referred to a hospital in Gwalior for further treatment. Locals also informed police that there were firecrackers stored in one of the homes. Police are investigating the case from all angles. However, officials said that our primary focus is to find anyone stuck inside the debris.
