Eleven individuals’ homes were demolished in Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh, which is predominantly tribal. According to a police official on Saturday, this action was taken as part of crackdowns on illegal beef trading in the state, as these houses were constructed on government-owned land.

According to Mandla Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha, the police acted upon receiving information that a significant number of cows were being illegally held for slaughter in the Bhainwahi area of Nainpur town, Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh.

‘A team promptly responded and discovered 150 cows tethered in the accused’s backyards. Refrigerators in all 11 homes contained cow meat. Additionally, animal fat, cattle skin, and bones were found stored in a room,’ reported the official to PTI.

According to the SP, an FIR was filed on Friday night after the cows and beef were found. He mentioned that one suspect had been apprehended, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining 10.

Meanwhile, authorities mentioned that the 150 cows were relocated to a cattle shelter. ‘Bhainswahi area has been a hotspot for cow smuggling recently. Cow slaughter in MP carries a seven-year jail sentence,’ the police official elaborated.
