A woman from Mullanpur, along with her accomplices, allegedly kidnapped and assaulted a travel agent after a failed visa attempt for her nephew. The agent had arranged a Russian visa for the woman’s nephew, but upon his arrival in Russia, he was deported from the airport.
Frustrated and desperate, the woman and her aides confronted the agent, demanding the return of the money he had taken for the visa. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, the agent reportedly failed to return the money, which led to the extreme actions taken by the woman and her accomplices.

According to the police, travel agent Lovinder Singh had arranged a Russian visa for Jasveer Kaur’s nephew, Amritpal Singh, charging Rs 3 lakh for the visa and travel arrangements. However, upon arriving in Russia, Amritpal was deported back to India, leaving the family furious. Frustrated over the loss, they confronted the agent, and soon, tensions escalated. Police revealed that Kaur and her accomplices then conspired to recover the money, leading to the shocking turn of events.
The agent was reportedly lured under the pretense of discussing her nephew’s visa application. Once they met, they took him to Mullanpur, where they physically assaulted him. The group demanded the return of Rs 3 lakh, the amount the woman’s nephew had paid to secure the visa. In a desperate attempt to get their money back, the woman and her accomplices took matters into their own hands. The accused have been identified as Jasveer Kaur, Raju, Bunty, Kamaljit Kaur, Meva Singh, and Gurbaj Singh.
Sarabha Nagar police lodged an FIR against Jasveer Kaur, Raju, Bunty – residents of Mullanpur, Gurbaz Singh, Kamaljit Kaur, and Meva Singh of Waraich village on the complaint of the victim, Lovinder Singh of New Azad Nagar, Bapu Market, Lohara. Police said that Jasveer Kaur got her nephew Amritpal Singh’s visa for Russia from Lovinder Singh, for which he charged them Rs 3 lakh. Amritpal flew to Russia but was deported on landing at the airport.
After being released from their custody, the victim lodged a complaint with the police. An FIR was lodged under sections 140 (3) (Kidnapping), 191 (3) (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 190 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 61 (2) (Criminal conspiracy) of BNS. The accused are yet to be arrested.
