Lucknow: Upset over a dispute with his girlfriend, a 24-year-old man ended his life at the official residence of a BJP legislator in Lucknow. The deceased has been identified as Shreshta Tiwari. He used to work in the media cell of Yogesh Shukla, BJP MLA from Lucknow’s Bakshi Ka Talab, NDTV reported.
Tiwari took the extreme step during a video call with his girlfriend, reports said, adding that the woman also took screenshots while they were on call. The police have now seized the woman’s cellphone for further investigation.
As of now, no suicide note has been recovered. Police Inspector Pramod Kumar Pandey said Tiwari had called his girlfriend and told him that he would end his life. Later she informed the police and rushed to the spot. If reports are to be believed, the woman was right outside the Hazratganj flat when Tiwari died. The duo were in a relationship for at least four years, but things turned ugly of late.
Meanwhile, when police arrived, the door was locked from inside. They broke it open and recovered Tiwari’s body which was hanging in flat number 804 (allotted to Shukla). His body has now been sent for postmortem examination and further investigations are underway.
