The Lucknow Municipal Corporation carried out a special campaign on Saturday, November 22, targeting dog owners in Indira Nagar who were walking their pets without proper licences. Officials checked several areas in the locality and issued fines to many owners who did not have a valid dog licence, which is mandatory under municipal rules.
Inspector Rajesh Upadhyay from the Municipal Corporation said that the drive was organised in Zone 7 after receiving instructions from the Municipal Commissioner and the head of the Animal Welfare Department. He added that such campaigns will continue to ensure that all pet owners follow the rules and keep their documents updated.

“Our goal is not to catch stray dogs or those walking without licenses or vaccinations, nor to collect revenue. Our main objective is to raise awareness among the public and encourage them to get their pets vaccinated on time. For your own safety and the safety of the public, obtain licenses and avoid fines,” he said. He further said fines were collected from two people on Saturday morning. “Some fled the scene; some argued and refused to comply,” added Inspector Rajesh Upadhyay. The Lucknow Municipal Corporation carries out these checks regularly, as part of its continuous effort to ensure that all pet owners register their animals with the civic body.
