At least 10 prominent hotels in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, mostly premium properties, were targeted with bomb threat emails demanding a ransom of $55,000 (Rs 4,624,288). The email, warning of explosive devices hidden on hotel grounds, stated: “Bombs are hidden in black bags on the grounds of your hotel. I want $55,000, or I will detonate the explosives and blood will spread everywhere. Any attempt at defusing the bombs WILL detonate them.”
Targeted Hotels and Police Response
The hotels that received the bomb threats include Marriott, Saraca, Piccadily, Comfort Vista, Fortune, Lemon Tree, Clark Awadh, Casa, Dayal Gateway, and Silvette. Upon receiving these alarming emails, hotel management immediately informed local authorities. Police have since launched a thorough investigation and intensified security at each location.

Recent Series of Threats Across India
This incident comes just two days after bomb threats targeted three hotels in the temple area of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The email referenced “international pressure” over the arrest of Jaffer Sadiq and alleged that blasts in schools were necessary to divert attention from the involvement of MK Stalin’s family in the case. Last month, Bengaluru’s Taj West End Hotel also received a similar threat, leading authorities to deploy sniffer dogs and bomb squads. Upon investigation, that threat was deemed a hoax.
Heightened Vigilance and Swift Action
The recent threats have put authorities on high alert across various states. The police are collaborating with cyber units to trace the origin of these emails and to ensure the safety of guests and staff at the affected hotels.
