A tragic incident was reported from Montfort School in Lucknow on Saturday when a nine-year-old girl tragically died while playing. The child, Manvi Singh, was playing in the school playground when she suddenly fell unconscious and doctors later confirmed that she was a victim of cardiac arrest. The school principal claims that she was taken immediately to nearby Fatima Hospital but later shifted to Chandan Hospital where the doctors confirmed her death.
Response Of Family Members And Police
After the incident, the girl’s family did not lodge an FIR. SHO Akhilesh Mishra of Mahanagar police station said that the family had come to the police station to file a written statement that they would not proceed with further investigation as they alleged that for the last few years, Manvi had been suffering from severe diseases and had been under medical treatment. The family believes her fall and the resultant death were a result of her disease.
Principal’s Comments On Incident
Addressing media persons at the school, Brother Jinu Abraham, Principal of Montfort Inter College, lamented the tragic incident. He described Manvi as an intelligent student who was excelling in her studies. According to him, the school acted very promptly once medical assistance was sought, but it was too late. Brother Jinu described it as being very unfortunate, pointing out that the children are hardly given proper care and preparation for emergencies.
What’s Emerging About Children’s Health Issues
It has raised some alarming trends among young children who have been suffering from extremely serious health conditions. It is the second case that has been reported within the last year. An incident occurred when a class 9 student at City Montessori School’s Aliganj campus collapsed and died during class. The cause of death is suspected to have been cardiac arrest, much like in Manvi Singh’s case. This again raises a serious concern about the prevalence of such serious health conditions among young children and calls for periodic health check-ups along with the need to improve medical condition control in schools.
