Vrindavan: India, the land of temples and spirituality, boasts a treasure trove of divine mysteries, but one temple stands apart in its enigmatic allure – the Temple of Lord Krishna nestled within the mystical grove of Nidhivan in Vrindavan. This sacred haven is shrouded in secrets, and a peculiar rule governs it – no one is allowed to enter after the sun dips below the horizon.
The enchanted abode of lord Krishna
Vrindavan, a town steeped in devotion to Lord Krishna, houses the renowned Nidhivan temple. Legend has it that within its hallowed walls, Lord Krishna graces the temple each night for rest. A meticulously prepared bed, adorned with pristine mattresses and spotless sheets, serves as evidence of his divine presence.
Mysterious offerings
A daily spectacle of wonder unfolds within these sacred confines. Devotees are offered prasad, a divine concoction of makhan mishri (white butter and sugar candy). Strangely, by the morning light, this divine offering vanishes into thin air. It is believed that Lord Krishna himself indulges in this delicacy during the nocturnal hours.
The divine manifestation
The temple’s mystical aura is attributed to Saint Haridas, the guru of the renowned musician Tansen, who invoked the divine couple Radha-Krishna through his devotional hymns, manifesting their presence within its walls. Here, Radha Rani and Lord Krishna find respite in divine repose.
The fabled Rasleela
Whispers persist that this temple’s sacred precincts bear witness to the celestial dance of love, the Rasleela, performed by Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. Those daring enough to clandestinely witness this enchanting spectacle in the dark hours risk their sanity or even their eyesight. Nearby residents shutter their windows, and visitors abstain from venturing near the temple after the evening aarti.
Tulsi’s sacred transformation
Within the temple grounds, two revered Tulsi plants are said to transform into gopis of Radha during the night, joyously dancing in her divine presence. A single basil leaf from these plants is considered off-limits due to the profound sanctity of this sacred space.
Intrigue and mysticism surround Nidhivan, making it a place where spirituality, devotion, and the divine converge in a realm beyond the comprehension of the mortal world.
