Akhilesh Yadav Tweets Against Alleged House Arrest
“Honourable Supreme Court, @ECISVEEP (Election Commission of India), @CEOUP (Chief Electoral Officer, Uttar Pradesh), Police Chief @dgpup @Uppolice should immediately take cognisance of the fact that in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, apart from Mirzapur, Aligarh, Kannauj, the district magistrate and the police administration are illegally putting the political workers of the opposition under house arrest (‘nazarbandh’), so that they cannot participate in the counting of votes tomorrow,” he said.
Sharing CCTV footage of the incident on his official X handle, Akhilesh demanded an end to such actions and called for the immediate release of the “detained” individuals.
“When all political parties are functioning peacefully, governance should refrain from any unethical actions that may provoke public outrage. It is hoped that biased district magistrates and administrative officials will be promptly removed, and the polling process will be conducted in a peaceful environment,” he further stated.
The SP chief also expressed his hope that biased District Magistrates and administrative officials would be removed from their positions, ensuring a peaceful vote counting process.
