Lok Sabha 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed the INDIA alliance saying that this election is between NDA, which is fighting against corruption and the other group, which is fighting to save the corrupt. He said that Modi’s mantra is ‘Bhrashtachar hatao’ and they say ‘Bhrashtacahri bachao’.

Addressing a gathering in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to combatting corruption over the past decade. He asserted that measures have been implemented to prevent middlemen from exploiting the poor. Modi reiterated his staunch stance against corruption, acknowledging that his efforts have faced opposition from certain quarters. He juxtaposed his mantra of “Bhrashtachar hatao” (eliminate corruption) with the purported agenda of others, whom he accused of seeking to protect corrupt practices. Modi framed the upcoming election as a battle between the NDA, which champions the fight against corruption, and opposing factions purportedly aligned with preserving corrupt elements.

During his first rally in Uttar Pradesh after the Lok Sabha election schedule announcement, Prime Minister Modi praised Meerut as a hub of “revolution and revolutionaries,” citing leaders like Chaudhary Charan Singh. He emphasized the government’s preparation for its third term, outlining plans for the next five years and rapid progress on key decisions for the initial 100 days.

Highlighting his own background of poverty, Modi expressed empathy for the struggles of the poor and stressed the government’s efforts to address their concerns and restore their dignity through various schemes. Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, who recently joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, shared the stage with the Prime Minister at the rally.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
