A Lok Adalat will be held on December 14, providing motorists with an opportunity to seek reductions or waivers on pending traffic challans. All cases, regardless of the fine amount, will be heard. While Lok Adalats typically handle minor traffic violations, fines may not be completely waived but could be reduced, or cases may be dismissed through a mutual settlement.
It is important to note that the challan must be settled at the Lok Adalat in the district where it was issued. Failure to attend the session will result in the need to pay the fine through virtual court or other available options.
Traffic challans that can be waived or reduced in Lok Adalat:
- Only normal traffic violations are handled in the Lok Adalat. This includes fines for not wearing a seatbelt, not wearing a helmet, or jumping a red light. You can request a reduction or dismissal of the fine in such cases.
- 1. If your vehicle’s challan was issued due to a minor traffic rule violation and your vehicle was not
- 2. involved in any criminal activity or accident, the challan can be waived or reduced.
- 3. It is important to arrive at the Lok Adalat on time. If you are late, your case will not be heard, and you will have to pay the fine directly.
Documents required for Lok Adalat hearing:
If you plan to attend the Lok Adalat, you must register beforehand, obtain an appointment letter, and generate a token number. You will also need to bring the following documents with you:

- 2. Driving license
- 3. Details of the previous challan
- 4. Court notice/summons
- 5. ID proof
- 6. Copy of the challan
- 7. Vehicle insurance
- 8. Appointment letter and token number
