In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Bina Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) secured victory in the Mahnar constituency, defeating Umesh Singh Kushwaha of the Janata Dal (United) by a margin of 7,947 votes.
The Mahnar Assembly segment is part of the Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2024 general elections, Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won the Hajipur parliamentary seat, defeating Shiv Chandra Ram of the Rashtriya Janata Dal by a margin of 1,70,105 votes.
