The party has crossed the majority mark in Haryana, Election Commission Of India said on Tuesday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is looking for a straight third term. The latest trends in Haryana show that the BJP is leading in 49 of the 90 assembly seats, while the Congress is ahead in 35.
The BJP has reversed the initial trends which were showing Congress ahead. Meanwhile, various exit polls had predicted a clear majority for the Congress in Haryana. The counting of votes for assembly elections in Haryana began on Tuesday at 8 am. Meanwhile, polling for the 90 seats of the Haryana Assembly ended on October 5.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed confidence in forming the government for the third time in the state adding that the BJP has worked with honesty whereas Congress did a lot of corruption.
“BJP has worked a lot for the development of Haryana in the past ten years…BJP has worked with honesty for all sections of the society…Our government will continue to work for the development of Haryana and BJP will be forming the government in Haryana for the third time…BJP worked with honesty whereas Congress did a lot of corruption,” Saini told ANI.

Hitting out at the opposition, the Haryana CM said that the Congress works for power while the BJP works for service.
“Today is the day of counting and I am confident that as a result of the works done by the BJP government in the past ten years, we will be forming the government in Haryana for the third time…Our government will continue to serve the people of Haryana. Congress works for power, BJP works for service,” the Chief Minister told reporters. 93 counting centres were set up for 90 assembly constituencies in 22 districts of the state.

Aditya Surjewala, son of Randeep Singh Surjewala won from the Kaithal seat by a margin of 8124 votes
Pawan Kharkhoda won the Kharkhauda seat by a margin of 5635 votes
After winning from Julana, Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat says, "This is the fight of every girl, every woman who chooses the path to fight. This is the victory of every struggle, of truth. I will maintain the love and trust that this country has given me."

It reads, "...Commission unequivocally rejects your attempt to surreptitiously give credence to irresponsible, unfounded and uncorroborated malafide narratives."

On Haryana, J&K election trends, Congress leader Pawan Khera says, "There is a mismatch in the actual number of rounds counted and the number of rounds being shown on the television through the Election Commission data. The EC data is lagging behind, they are still showing 4th or the 5th found data while 11 rounds have been counted. Our General Secretary Communications has tweeted to the Election Commission asking - are trying to put pressure on the local administration by delaying the display and uploading of data. In J&K you are getting live data with every round counted but in Haryana, it is not so."
As per the latest EC data, BJP is leading on 50 of the 90 seats - crossing the majority mark of 46. Congress leading on 34 seats.
