New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday accused the Delhi Police of illegaly detaining and assaulting its workers who were coming from Punjab and trying to enter the national capital.
The AAP members flocked to Delhi Sunday morning owing to the protest held by the top leadership including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann along with Atishi, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha.
Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh posted on Twitter that the police launched lathi-charge on unarmed public and said, “Brutal assault by Modi regime to crush Arvind Kejriwal.”
The minister tweeted, “MLAs, ministers, volunteers who were peacefully travelling to Delhi were stopped, illegally detained, followed by brutal lathi charge on unarmed peaceful people. We had to do CPR and rush the injured to hospital to save lives.”

Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains questioned, “We cannot even enter our capital? Delhi Police not allowing my car to enter Delhi.”

The protest was held outside the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office to oppose the questioning of party supremo Arvind Kejriwal in the Liquor Policy Scam.
Meanwhile in Delhi, the police detained several AAP supporters from the Kashmiri Gate where the leaders were holding protest against the probe agency to summon CM Kejriwal.
Following heavy sloganeering in the area, security was beefed to keep the situation calm.

Earlier in February, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish was arrested by the Central Investigation Agency (CBI), following 8 hours of inquiry into alleged corruption into the same matter.
