West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose supported the protest against the RG Kar Medical College & Hospital rape-murder incident by turning off the lights at Raj Bhavan and lighting a candle. He also said, “When there is fear in the light, darkness is comforting.”

Along with the public, BJP leaders Sukanta Majumdar and Agnimitra Paul also turned off their lights as a symbol of protest during a rally on Wednesday.

The father of the deceased doctor spoke to the media about the rape-murder case, saying, “They told me she had committed suicide. It took us three hours to see our daughter; we had to beg the police to let us see her.”

He also asked, “Why was the post-mortem delayed? Why was the FIR registered late?”
