A recent tragic accident which costs the life of a minor in a chemical factory shocked the whole humanity and forced the Communist Party of India to stood voice against the evil Child Labour.

The CPI Secretary Prof. Iqbal Mand Khan told press: “I am a human being and a member of the Communist Party of India, that’s why I am sensitive to exploitation and our party raises its voice against exploitation and tyranny and fights against child labour.”

“Under Article 24 of the Constitution, children below the age of 14 are prohibited from working in any factory, mine, and other hazardous industries, I regret that most of the child laborers are in the lock and hardware industry of Aligarh were child labour under the age of 14 and spends a major part of the day working. The Commonwealth Convention on the Rights of the Child set the upper age limit for child labor at 18 years.”

Mohd Adil Ali, an active member of CPI student wing for around last one decade was also there with Party Secretary, and told press, “Child labour is a social evil, under which very young boys and girls are engaged in hard physical and mental labour works for wages. In this age of going to school, their future goes dark due to irregular working hours and insecurities.”

“Today the children who should be in school, are forced to work like a labourer. Most of the factory or industry owners gives more preference to children because they are cheaper than adult labour.”

“The problem of child labor in India is linked to poverty. Most of the child labor comes from landless agricultural labourer’s, marginal farmers, artisans, and migrant families living in urban slums.”

“Small children in urban areas work in lock industry in making hardware items and doing work like animals. In hotels and dhabas, they work to provide tea and food or selling milk. Children also work as porters and dependent labourers in the slums.”

“There is no one behind such children, nor they have any home of their own. They are forced to live only on railway tracks or footpaths. The delicate circumstances of their family in the village and the fights force them to run away and come to such cities and become part of an unsafe community.”

“The working principal of CPI since origin was Social Justice, overcoming social oppression and exploitation and the party will continue with same motto up to the highest level of jurisdiction of Indian constitution,” he added.
