Sambit Patra while addressing a press conference at the party office, he stated that, “Today, since morning, we have been seeing in the media an issue regarding a company. There is a case against that company in the US. There are allegations and counter-allegations. We clearly believe that as far as the company and the case against it are concerned, the company will issue a statement and defend itself on its own.”

He mentioned that, “Law will take its own course.”

Patra further said that, “The entire matter is about agreements on power purchase and agreements on state distribution companies (SDCs). The distribution of electricity between US and India, there are two companies – one an Indian and a US company.

He added, saying, “Four Indian states’ names appear before US Court…This matter dates between July 2021 to February 2022. At that time, Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress Govt was in power in Chhattisgarh…In Andhra Pradesh, it was YSRCP Govt at that time. In Tamil Nadu, it was DMK Govt – of your ally Stalin. In Odisha, it was BJD Govt. So, all 4 states that have been named in the document neither had our chief ministers nor a government supported by us.”

He also raised issue that the Congress Party’s attempt to damage PM Narendra Modi’s reputation. Patra said that, “Rahul Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi, and the Congress have been trying to tarnish Modi’s image, but they have not succeeded. The prime minister received the highest civilian award in a foreign country on a day the opposition party was attacking him.”

“They all had Governments of Congress and its allies. Rahul Gandhi said that he has no objection if any of his former ministers or leaders are questioned…Rahul Gandhi, this is not your first attempt to diminish the credibility of PM Modi. Your mother, party and you have been attempting this since 2002,” he said.

What Did Rahul Gandhi Said?

Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reacted on the alleged bribery and fraud charges made on Gautam Adani by US authorities, by saying, “Wherever there is corruption, investigation should be done. But investigation will begin with Adani. Unless he is arrested, it won’t be credible. So, begin it from there. Arrest Adani, interrogate him and then nab whoever is involved. In the end, Narendra Modi’s name will come out because BJP’s entire funding structure is in his hands. So, even if the PM wants, he can’t do anything. In a way, Adani has hijacked the country. India is in Adani’s grip.”

He further mentioned in a press conference that, “We are going to raise this issue (in Parliament). It is my responsibility as LoP to raise this issue. The PM is 100% protecting this man (Adani) and this man fully supports BJP. We will reiterate the demand for a JPC.”
