In the lead-up to the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Ramdas Athawale, the chief of the Republican Party of India (A) and Union Minister, stated that the party has submitted a list of 20-21 seats to Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, requesting at least 8-10 seats. He emphasized the need for the Republican Party to receive a share in governance, including one of the 12 MLC posts appointed by the Governor and 2-3 Maha Mandal President positions.
