Land For Jobs Scam: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav will appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday in the case related to the ‘land for jobs’ scam. During the hearing of Tejashwi Yadav’s petition in the Delhi High Court, the CBI said that it would not arrest the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar this month. After this Tejashwi Yadav agreed to appear before the CBI.
Tejashwi Yadav has to appear for questioning at CBI Headquarters in Delhi today at 10.30 am. CBI has issued three summons to Tejashwi Yadav. After the summons was issued, Tejashwi Yadav delayed his appearance on the basis of ongoing assembly session of Bihar and his wife’s pregnancy.

According to reports, Tejashwi Yadav had said that he could not appear physically but could not answer questions through video conferencing. After this the CBI assured that Tejashwi Yadav would not be arrested, after which Tejashwi Yadav agreed to appear before the CBI on 25 March.

What is land-for-job scam?
It is alleged that during the years 2004-2009, when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister, people were given wrongful jobs. In lieu of giving jobs, Lalu Yadav took land from poor people. According to the complaint letter filed in this case, Lalu Yadav had taken land at a prime location in lieu of a job. On receiving the complaint, the CBI investigated the matter. The CBI has filed a charge sheet against 16 people, including Lalu Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi in this case.
