New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday in the Supreme Court sought cancellation of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s bail as he was seen playing badminton. Lalu Yadav was given bail in a fodder scam case on medical grounds.

The CBI approached the apex court seeking the cancellation of Lalu’s bail in the Doranda treasury case. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo was sentenced to five years imprisonment in the same case.

Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju appeared on behalf of CBI. Raju said the Jharkhand High Court’s order granting bail to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader was “bad in law”.

Prasad’s senior counsel Kapil Sibal opposed the CBI application as the former Union minister had undergone a kidney transplant.

Sibal informed the bench that his client had served 42 months imprisonment in the case.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has so far been convicted in five cases related to the Rs 950 crore fodder scam when he was the chief minister of Bihar from 1992 to 1995 and had the finance and animal husbandry portfolio.
