Kunal Kamra Controversy: BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday reacted to the Kunal Kamra controversy. She stated that insulting and defaming someone is not right. BJP MP stressed that abusing people, our culture, religious texts, mothers, and sisters in the name of comedy is unacceptable. She questioned how these people, for mere fame disregard anyone’s work in the name of comedy. Kangana praised Eknath Shinde and said the leader, who once used to pull a rickshaw has reached this stature on his own.
What Did Kangana Say?
Praising Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Kangana questioned about the credentials of people poking fun. She said, “Kaun hai ye log and What credentials do they have?” Kangana continued, “You might be anyone, but insulting and defaming someone…A person for whom his/her respect is everything, and you insult and disregard them…Who are these people?”
She further added that these are the people who couldn’t do anything in their life. Kangana also advised that they can write literature, if they are so capable.
Kangana emphasised that we should think where the society is heading when someone is pulling such acts only for 2 minutes of fame. She also targeted the growing culture of ‘Influencers’ and their hunger for fame.
She further commented on the bulldozer action on Habitat Comedy Club. Kangana said that she would not compare it to her situation as it was done illegally. “This has been done legally, but what had been done (demolishing of her bungalow) to me was illegally done,” added Kangana.

Kunal Kamra Denies Apology
Earlier in the day, Comedian Kunal Kamra addressed the controversy that erupted after his remarks on Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. Kamra released a statement on his official social media handle. He shared the post on X with caption ‘My statement” and stated that he would not ‘apologise’ for his act. Kamra also addressed the mob that vandalised the Habitat studio, stressing that an entertainment venue is merely a platform and is not responsible for his comedy.
He cleared that no venue has any power or control over what he says or does. Hinting at the backlash he has been facing from Shiv Sena leaders, Kamra said that no political party can control what he says. He called attacking the venue over a remark by one comedian senseless.
Kamra said, “An entertainment venue is merely a platform. A space for all sorts of shows. Habitat (or any other venue) is not responsible for my comedy, nor does it have any power or control over what I say or do. Neither does any political party. Attacking a venue for a comedian’s words is as senseless as overturning a lorry carrying tomatoes, because you didn’t like the butter chicken you were served.”
