KSDL bribery case: Bharatiye Janta party (BJP) MLA Madal Virupakshappa was arrested on Monday in a bribery case related to Karnataka Soaps and Detergents limited(KSDL)after the Karnataka high court rejected the bail petition of the BJP MLA. (KSDL bribery case)
The High court last week had reserved its judgement related to the bribery case. The case is all about the accepting bribe for approving contract for supplying chemicals to State-run company.
Virupakshappa was accused of demanding and receiving bribe through his son KAS officer Prashant Madal. KSDL makes the famous Mysore Sandal soap of Karnataka.

MLA arrested near Tumkur Kyasandra toll
Virupakshappa, MLA from Channagiri in Davangere district, was caught by the Lokayukta police near Tumkur Kayasandra toll on Monday. He has been taken to Bangalore.
According to the Lokayukta, a bribe of Rs 81 lakh was demanded to get the bill passed and Virupakshappa’s son Prashant MV was caught taking Rs 40 lakh in his office. Later, over Rs 7 crore in cash was seized from Virupakshappa’s residence. Prashant MV was arrested in this case on 2 March.
