Kota: A government school principal in Rajasthan’s Kota district, Shafi Mohammad Ansari, was arrested for allegedly deleting WhatsApp posts related to Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Controversy over WhatsApp Group Messages
The incident took place in the village of Latoori, where the Government Higher Secondary School has a WhatsApp group that includes not only school staff but also local residents. On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, a villager posted a greeting message on Saturday, which was later deleted by the school principal, Ansari. When a teacher posted a similar message two hours later, Ansari also deleted that post.

Villagers Protest and Demand Action
Upset by these actions, the villagers staged a protest, demanding Ansari’s removal and arrest. Police were called to the scene and promised to take appropriate measures. The villagers then filed an official complaint against the principal.
Arrest and Release of the Principal
Ansari was arrested for allegedly disturbing communal harmony under Section 127 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). However, he was granted bail and released the same day.
