Kolkata Rape Murder Case: The father of the deceased trainee doctor from Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College has come out in open criticism of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, showing disappointment from her role in the investigation. The family of the victim is unhappy about the action taken on their daughter’s case by the state government and is now demanding a CBI probe.

Family Demands CBI Probe

The father of the victim told ANI on Tuesday, ‘We are not satisfied with the role of CM Mamata Banerjee in this case. That’s why we demanded a CBI investigation. All she has done is nothing. A policeman came to our house and informed us that they arrested Sanjay Roy and he will be produced in a fast-track court to receive the death sentence. But we believe the crime was committed not by just one person.

He further stressed that people from within the department can be implicated in this and that their family have been raising this demand since day one. The family is firm to fight for a just and proper investigation into the case.

Mamata Banerjee’s Durga Puja Remarks Stir Anger

The father of the victim reacted to recent remarks by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, where she urged people to ‘return to festivities’ ahead of Durga Puja. He said, ‘Maybe she will take people to celebrate in her official capacity, but we think no one will celebrate Durga Puja this year with true happiness. My daughter was beloved by many, and people across Bengal and the country consider her their own.’

The Chief Minister had also appealed to junior doctors to go back to work amidst the protests. The family of the victim took this remark a bit unkind.

The tragedy hit the mother of the victim very personally, and in strong disapproval, she expressed her feelings against Mamata Banerjee’s request to people to celebrate Durga Puja. ‘Durga Puja is celebrated in my house, too. My daughter used to handle it herself. Now, Durga Puja will never be celebrated in my house again. The light in my home is out,’ she said in a trembling voice.

She asked how the Chief Minister could make such remarks ‘If something like this had happened in her family, would she have said the same?’ she accused Banerjee of insensitivity.

Grief Turns To Determination For Justice

The mother was also resolute to fight for her daughter’s justice. ‘Our movement is not going to stop until our justice is ensured,’ she maintained. ‘We will keep fighting. They might have silenced our daughter, but they will not silence our fight for justice,’ she asserted confidently.

As if, her emotional plea underlined, the loss of their daughter brought a permanent shadow in their life. ‘The lamp at my home has gone out forever,’ she added. ‘They took away my daughter, and now they are trying to suppress our demands for justice.’

Tragic Incident Sparks Outrage

The rape and murder of a second-year postgraduate medical student inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9 sent shockwaves across the state and the medical fraternity. Since then, the victim’s family, along with her fellow students, has been staging a protest demanding justice and an investigation into the incident in more depth.

While the police have arrested Sanjay Roy, the family believes others could be behind the crime too and thus are demanding a CBI inquiry so that the culprits do not get away with the crime.

The victim’s father said the whole country is mourning their daughter and justice has to be meted out. The family members continued to assail West Bengal’s government and asserted that their justice movement would not be gagged.

Grieving Family Seeks Justice

With Durga Puja around the corner, the family of the deceased doctor has been in mourning, and no festivities will be held this year. The family was focused on seeking justice for their daughter, saying, ‘We won’t rest until all those responsible for Pari’s death are punished.’ The demand for a CBI investigation has persisted because people remain dissatisfied with the present state of the case.
