Congress leader Surendra Rajput commented on the ongoing CBI investigation, stating that the case no longer involves West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. "The focus should be on arresting the criminals. I also urge medical students to resume their duties," Rajput told PTI.
Junior doctors have welcomed the CBI's arrest of former RG Kar Medical College principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh and Tala police officer Abhijit Mondal, seeing it as proof of their claims about evidence tampering. Dr. Aqeeb highlighted that Ghosh’s arrest validates their concerns and called for the resignation of all involved officials. "We will keep protesting until justice is delivered for Abhaya," Dr. Aqeeb declared.
Dr. Sandip Ghosh, a former official at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was arrested by the CBI on Saturday. He faces charges of tampering with evidence and delaying the registration of an FIR.
Ghosh is also under suspicion for corruption and illegal organ trading. During an investigation, the ED discovered properties owned by Ghosh's wife that the state government was unaware of. These properties include a flat in Murshidabad, three flats and two houses in Kolkata, and documents related to a farmhouse owned by the couple.

West Bengal's Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, said that the arrest of Tala police officer Abhijit Mondal proves that Kolkata police were involved in tampering with crime evidence. He accused the police of purposely mishandling the investigation into the rape and murder of the RG Kar PGT lady doctor. Adhikari demanded the suspension of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and called for Home Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation, questioning her ability to lead the department.
