Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: The man accused of raping and murdering a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital reportedly returned home after the crime and slept for several hours, police revealed on Sunday. He later attempted to destroy evidence by washing his clothes.
The accused, a civic volunteer who was not professionally linked to the hospital but frequently visited the premises, was found with blood marks on his shoes. The body of the victim, a post-graduate trainee doctor, was discovered in a seminar hall on Friday morning. Her colleagues reported that she had gone there to rest after a meal, with the crime occurring between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Police And Hospital Responses
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the medical college on Sunday, marking his second visit in three days, and met with agitating junior doctors. “After committing the crime, the accused went back to the place where he was staying and slept till late on Friday morning. After waking up, he washed the clothes he was wearing during the crime to destroy evidence. His shoes, with blood stains on them, were found during a search,” an officer told PTI.

Autopsy Report Reveals Shocking Details
The initial autopsy report revealed severe injuries to the victim’s body, including bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and private parts, as well as injuries to her leg, neck, hand, and lips. Circumstantial evidence also suggested the possibility that the doctor was murdered before being raped.

Hospital And Security Measures
In response to the incident, the hospital authorities have terminated two contractually employed security personnel at the emergency ward for failing to perform their duties. The autopsy report was handed over to the victim’s parents by a senior officer, and the police commissioner noted that a fruitful meeting was held with the students, resulting in the removal of an assistant police officer as per their demands.
